The name for my blog, AT THE CROSSROADS, comes from one of my favorite scripture verses:
Go stand at the crossroads and look around. Ask for directions to the old road. The tried-and-true road. Then take it. Discover the right route for your souls.”

Our crazy busy world does not allow us much time and space for soul care. We are constantly rushing, always going, perpetually doing. Maybe you are like me and long to stand at the crossroads and look around…to slow down, take your time, think things through, ask for directions, and then choose wisely.
Writing, reading, and journaling provide me opportunities to do this, and the blog posts in this category chronicle my search for that “tried-and-true” road. I am hoping you will join me on this journey. With the Lord’s help, we might just discover the right route for our souls together!

Deepen Your Prayers
Prayer changes things. There is power in prayer. Just pray about it. We casually toss out those phrases to provide comfort, guidance, and hope. But what happens when it is hard to pray? When we don’t feel like praying? When we don’t know how to pray?
You do not have to be Christian to be familiar with the concept of prayer. Whether you take the daily discipline of praying seriously or only cry out to God when you are at the end of yourself, we can all relate to prayer on some level.

Embrace Your Purpose
So many of us are searching for meaning and want to be a part of something greater than ourselves. We try to define our lives by our relationships, careers, and personal happiness. We measure our worth by social status, financial success, and physical appearance.
But all of these things fall miserably short because they are not part of God’s original design and purpose for our lives.
When I was able to understand that I am God’s child, unconditionally loved by him and created for something so much bigger and better than temporary, trivial things, I was able to embrace my true purpose.
