My journey to becoming a speaker, writer, and teacher began by a good friend asking me to help teach a Bible study at my church.
Although my background is in education and I had earned my battle scars teaching at both the high school and college level, I felt woefully inadequate and unprepared to teach God’s Word. It was both step out of my comfort zone as well as a step of faith! The Lord provided me with amazing mentors and teachers along the way and I soon learned that it was more about God working and speaking through me than any of my own wisdom or gifts.
That journey that began over ten years ago has led me to speaking to mom’s groups, outreach events, retreats, workshops and local community organizations. I have spoken to groups of various sizes and love the interaction with women. Drawing on my experience in the classroom, my presentations try to incorporate a variety of methods to reach women of all ages in all seasons of life.
I am that person who needs to write things down to understand and process my thoughts and ideas, so writing and blogging have become the natural outflow of my teaching and speaking. I have had opportunities to be a guest blogger and have had a few articles published at Today’s Christian Woman online magazine. I continue to write weekly on my own blog as well as develop materials for presentations, workshops, and conferences.
When not teaching, writing, or speaking, I am most myself as a wife and mom living in Ohio with my four very active children (ages 20, 19, 17, & 13) who take their job of keeping me humble and grounded very seriously. I married Michael, my childhood friend and high school sweetheart, over 25 years ago and feel very blessed to have such a loving, generous and level-headed partner and best friend who supports all of my endeavors. I also enjoy serving in the women’s ministry at my church, mentoring young women, and volunteering in the local public schools my children attend. I continue to teach Bible studies and have a passion for local outreach. I thank the Lord every morning for my cup of coffee so beautifully delivered by my invaluable Keurig machine, always write better with my black Lab, Nelly, at my side, and love to sing and dance in the car…especially when I can embarrass my kids!
