“To get your breakthrough, sometimes God needs t “To get your breakthrough, sometimes God needs to break you.”

At first glance, that quote might feel a little harsh, right? I know it did for me.
Why would a loving God want to break me?

But as I sat with it, I realized something: spiritual brokenness isn’t the same as being discarded, destroyed, or defeated. In fact, brokenness in the Bible is often the very doorway to healing, freedom, and renewal.

You see, God doesn’t break us to hurt us—He breaks us to heal us.
He breaks us open, not apart.

He lovingly removes what we cling to—fear, shame, doubt, pride, self-reliance—so that we can finally fall into His arms, empty and open to receive His grace.

Psalm 51 is David’s heart-cry from a place of deep brokenness. After moral failure and personal shame, he doesn’t try to clean himself up for God. He doesn’t offer empty sacrifices or polished performances. He simply offers a contrite heart.

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.” (Psalm 51:17)

That’s what God wants. Not our perfection. Not our pretending. Just us.

Because in our brokenness, we are most ready for a breakthrough.

When we finally surrender our strength, He gives us His.
When we lay down our striving, He lifts us up with mercy.
When we stop performing, He meets us with presence.

So if you feel like something is breaking right now—maybe it’s your plans, your pride, your control—what if that’s not the end?
What if it’s the beginning?

God is not breaking you down…He’s breaking you open for something new.

A fresh start.
A tender heart.
A holy breakthrough.

Let Him do what only He can. He’s not done with you. He’s just getting started.

Do you need breathing room for your soul? When I Do you need breathing room for your soul?

When I get anxious, I feel claustrophobic—like the walls are closing in and I can’t breathe.

I just want it to stop.
So I cry out to God, begging for relief, release…
just enough air to calm my racing heart.

But sometimes, God doesn’t move fast enough (for me).
And I’m left waiting.
And, honestly?
I’m not great at waiting.

But David, the psalmist, encourages me with this line:
“I’ll wait as long as He says.”
(Ouch. That could be a very long time.)

That’s not just surrender—it’s contented surrender.
Unclenched hands. A quiet heart.
Trusting that God—not me—knows the pace, the path, and the outcome.

David doesn’t rush or scramble.
Why?
Because he knows everything he needs comes from God.
So he waits. Secure. Still. Steady.

And tucked right in the middle of Psalm 62 is a phrase that feels like a deep exhale:

“Breathing room for my soul.”

Isn’t that what we all long for?

In the middle of uncertainty, worry, and striving, we need space to catch our breath.
Stillness.
A soul uncluttered enough to hear God’s voice.

That kind of space comes only when we release control and learn to wait well.

Not passively.
Not impatiently.
But with peace. Purpose. Trust.

Today, I’m asking God to help me wait like David did—
with uncluttered faith and soul-deep confidence that He will come through.

Maybe you need some breathing room, too?

BREAKTHROUGH… I’ve been praying for one for o BREAKTHROUGH…

I’ve been praying for one for over a year—not just any breakthrough, but one in my writing and speaking ministry.

I’ve fasted, cried out, and begged God to open doors and bring clarity.

But the breakthrough I long for? Still feels just out of reach.

Some days, my prayers feel like they’re bouncing off the ceiling. I keep running into the same walls—doubt, delay, detours. Maybe you’ve been there too?

Are you pleading with God to part the waters? Tear down walls? Open a door that won’t budge?

A dear friend recently said she’s praying for breakthrough—for me, herself, and others. That word hasn’t let me go. Or maybe God hasn’t.

He’s been gently showing me:
I need breakthrough in more than ministry…

Spiritually.
Emotionally.
Physically.
Relationally.

Maybe you do too.

Jesus tells us to keep asking, seeking, knocking (Matt. 7:7-8). But what happens when the door doesn’t open?

God is showing me 4 mistakes to avoid when praying for a breakthrough:

1️⃣ Not preparing spiritually
2️⃣ Not praying specifically
3️⃣ Not pursuing strategically
4️⃣ Not persevering steadfastly

Breakthrough doesn’t always come quickly. But it starts with prayer—persistent, soul-deep, keep-knocking prayer.

He is able.
For me.
For you.
For every impossible thing.
