MY JOURNEY
My journey to becoming a speaker, Bible teacher, and author began unexpectedly—with a good friend asking me to help teach a Bible study at my church. “What?!” I thought. Although I had a background in education and had earned my stripes teaching high school and college students, I felt completely unqualified to teach God’s Word.
Shakespeare? To Kill a Mockingbird? Poetry? Research papers? Absolutely—I’m your girl. But Christian living, spiritual disciplines, inductive Bible study, and theology? Don’t you need a seminary degree for that?
Saying “yes” was both a step out of my comfort zone and a giant leap of faith. But God met me exactly where I was, providing amazing mentors, guides, and the power of the Holy Spirit. I quickly learned that teaching wasn’t about my wisdom or gifts—it was about God working through me. I spent many hours on my knees and in the Word, letting God prepare me in ways I could never have imagined.
Over the past twenty years, those small, tentative steps of obedience have blossomed into a ministry that reaches spiritually seeking and sensitive women who desire to:
- Declutter their souls.
- Discover biblical truth and grace.
- Delight in their God-given beauty!
Recently, I embraced a new chapter as a Christian Color Analysis & Style Image Consultant, certified by Style by Color. For years, I’ve helped women connect faith and life through the transformative power of God’s grace, showing how the Spirit makes us beautiful from the inside out. Now, I’m excited to guide women in reflecting that inner beauty outwardly—teaching them to dress in their best colors, discover their personal style, declutter their closets, and delight in the bodies God gave them.
MY PASSION
I desire to uplift you with biblical grace and truth, helping you allow God to unclutter your soul so your beauty can truly shine from the inside out!
In seeking a Bible verse to guide my ministry, I kept returning to Jesus’ words in the Sermon on the Mount, where He calls us to be the “light of the world.”
“…You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”
~ Matthew 5: 14-16 (The Message)
I love this, don’t you? It encourages us to shine from the inside out and share the hope, peace, and joy that only Jesus can give us.
And that is what I know I am called to do…and what I want to encourage you to do!
Somewhere along the way, we have lost God’s view of beauty. I know it happened to me. And I have been on a journey to heal my wounds and bring beauty back…God’s way.
So, if you take nothing else away from visiting, please hear this:
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.
Not because you fit into society’s mold, not because you do good “Christian” things, not because you are trendy & stylish, and certainly not because you always have it all together–but because GOD SAYS YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.
And I’m here to help you reclaim that truth. Let’s reject the world’s distorted views of beauty and embrace a biblical perspective that honors our inner and outer beauty so we can shine from the inside out.
We can bring beauty back…God’s way!
Let me help you embrace inner and outer beauty in practical, purposeful, and powerful ways. I want to teach you how to understand and apply the principles of the Christian faith (Bible study, prayer, theology, service, and relationships) to your everyday life, allowing God to transform and make you even more beautiful from the inside out.
MY EXPERIENCE
I have spoken to groups of various sizes and love the interaction with women. Drawing on my experience in the classroom, my speaking style incorporates various methods to reach women of all ages in all seasons of life. God has provided me with many opportunities to engage with small and large groups in many different settings, including community organizations, outreach events, youth groups, workshops/training sessions, and retreats.
I am the type of person who needs to write things down to understand and process my thoughts and ideas, so writing and blogging has become the natural outflow of my teaching and speaking. While I would say I am a teacher first, a speaker second, and a writer dead last, God has graciously provided me with many opportunities to share my faith and life through the platform of writing.
Not only do I try to blog often here on my website, INSIDE OUT BEAUTY, but I also write for online magazines, contribute to several inspirational blogs, and have authored a few short devotionals and e-books.
My newly released revised and expanded version of my award-winning book, The Beauty of an Uncluttered Soul, teaches spiritually seeking women how to clear soul clutter by inviting God’s Spirit to transform them from the inside out. Many women are using this inductive and interactive Bible study on the Fruit of the Spirit in their churches, small groups, and book clubs. 🏡 Where I Call Home
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, I now live in a suburb south of the city. Despite the jokes about the “mistake on the lake,” I love my city and its people! Married to my childhood friend and high school sweetheart for over 34 years, we have three adult sons, one daughter, a daughter-in-love, and an adorable grandson. I’m blessed to share life with them even though they live (literally!) across the country (from Brooklyn, NY, to San Francisco, CA)! They are my biggest cheerleaders and my greatest joy.
💪🏼 My Health Journey
I’ve battled autoimmune diseases for years, and it has been a difficult path. But it’s also been a journey of learning to rely on God’s strength and finding beauty even in the struggles. I’m here to share what I’ve learned and to walk with you if you’re in a similar battle.
🇮🇹 My Heritage
Did I mention that I’m Italian!?! It is pretty obvious if you have ever watched me speak, as I cannot talk without using my hands! I love bringing a taste of Italy into my home with homemade sauce, pizza, biscotti, and more! Food is one of the ways I show love, and there’s nothing better than sharing a meal with the people you care about.
💞 My Passions
I enjoy serving in the women’s ministry at my church, mentoring young adults, and volunteering in my community. I continue to teach Bible studies and have a passion for serving underrepresented women at Laura’s Home in Cleveland, Ohio.
☕️ I thank the Lord every morning for my cup of strong black coffee, always write better with my cat, Kyrie, hanging out with me in my office, and love to sing and dance in the car—especially when I can embarrass my family!
I believe God has called me to not only share my story of His faithfulness, grace, and truth but encourage others to do the same! I write, speak, and teach about my personal struggles, my times of doubt and desperation, and my search for meaning and truth. I try to be honest, transparent, and real…all while trying to wear my best color and look stylish!
If you are looking for a girl who has it all together, knows all the answers, and always has a smile and a scripture verse to share, you are in the wrong place! I humbly confess I am a sinner saved by grace who is a work in progress, always seeking fellow travelers to walk this journey of faith and life with me.
